32-Year-Old Pittsburgh Motorcyclist Fatally Injured in Crash near Hill Street
BAY POINT, CA (May 13, 2018) – A fatal motorcycle accident took place on Alves Lane, just north of Hill Street, in the Contra Costa Community on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased victim was identified by the Contra Costa Community Coroner’s Office as 32-year-old Kenneth Jasper Jr of Pittsburgh.
Around 1:50 PM, Jasper was traveling about 30 mph on a red 1992 Honda motorcycle, riding southbound on Alves. At the same time, a gold 2014 Chevrolet Cruze had just turned north onto Alves from Medanos Avenue at about 5 mph, when it attempted to turn left onto Hill Street. The 42-year-old driver from Bay Point turned into the path of the motorcycle.
Jasper attempted to avoid the collision and turned, ending up on the asphalt, before crashing into the Chevy. He sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police officials during their investigation. Drugs and alcohol are not considered to be contributing factors. There is no additional information available at this time, and no arrests have been made yet.
