28-Year-Old Mountain View Motorcyclist Fatally Struck by Vehicle near North Mathilda Avenue
SUNNYVALE, CA (June 19, 2018) – A man was killed Tuesday evening after the rider lost control of his motorcycle for unknown reasons. The Santa Clara County Coroner’s Office identified 28-year-old Keishiro Nishijima of Mountain View, as the fatality in this incident.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened at around 8:30 PM. Nishijima was approaching Highway 101 from North Mathilda Avenue at an unknown speed when he lost control of his motorcycle. He was ejected from his bike and landed in the lane to his left, where he was hit by a black Toyota Camry.
Nishijima was pinned under the car when CHP arrived at the scene. Officers were still able to rush the motorcyclist to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by the medical staff. The driver of the Camry was reportedly unharmed and remained at the scene to cooperate with the investigators. Drugs and alcohol were ruled out as possible factors in the crash.
Affected areas were temporarily shut down to make way for an investigation. At 10:30 PM, all closed lanes were reopened to the public. No other information was immediately available.
