Katlyn Braley Killed in San Jacinto Crash
San Jacinto, CA (December 09, 2021) – On Wednesday, 31-year-old Katlyn Braley of San Jacinto lost her life in a bicycle crash on State Street.
The fatal crash took place at about 12:05 a.m. north of Record Road.
Officers said that Braley was riding her bike north on the two-lane road, where there were no street lights.
“The driver of a gray 2013 Kia Optima was going northbound and hit the rear of the bicycle,” CHP Officer Matt Napier said. “The driver did not initially realize that he had hit a person and continued north, but he very shortly turned around and returned to the scene.”
Moreover, the involved driver, a 58-year-old Redlands man, immediately called 911.
When the officers arrived, they pronounced Braley dead at the crash scene.
Meanwhile, investigating officers said the involved driver did not show signs of impairment during the accident.
“The fault here is still under investigation,” Napier said. “It could have had something to do with what the rider was wearing, whether she was in the roadway or off to the side. It may take a little time to make a determination.”
The driver was questioned but not arrested.
