Ronni Denton, Kathy Petersen, and Michael Mingus Involved in Accident near Fourth Plain Boulevard
VANCOUVER, WA (April 16, 2018) – A multiple-vehicle accident took place on Monday afternoon on Interstate 5 near Fourth Plain Boulevard.
The accident occurred around 2:00 PM, according to the Washington State Patrol. Ronni Denton of Vancouver was traveling southbound in her pickup truck with a bag full of cans and bottles. A few of them fell out of the bed of the truck, and she pulled over to the left shoulder to secure her load.
Traffic behind her slowed down to avoid the debris on the highway. 26-year-old Michael Mingus of Portland was driving in the left lane in his Jeep, when he swerved onto the left shoulder to avoid a collision with another car. He ended up rear-ending Denton’s truck, pushing it into the median, where is overturned on its side.
Kathy Petersen, 59, of Vancouver was a passenger inside of Mingus’ car and sustained injuries. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the collision and refused treatment. No other injuries were reported.
Mingus was cited for driving too closely, while Denton was cited for failure to secure her truck’s load. No other information has been released to the public at this time.
