Accident at Columbia County Dump Site Kills Dayton Woman
Dayton, WA (June 14, 2022) – On June 9, Kathy Dupont, 63, of Dayton, sustained fatal injuries in a pedestrian accident on West Cameron Street.
The fatal accident took place in the county dump facility end of West Cameron Street.
According to the investigators, Dupont was standing behind a pickup truck. She was guiding the driver to the edge of the pit to dump the garbage. However, the driver accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
Dupont was pushed into a metal grate at the back of the pit and fell in.
Officers say the cause of death was accidental blunt force trauma to the skull.
