60-Year-Old Female Fatally Struck near Palm Avenue in Hemet, CA
HEMET, CA (March 9, 2020) – On Monday morning, 60-year-old Kathryn Hann was fatally struck in her electric chair on Mayberry Avenue.
Around 3:37 p.m., Hemet Police received reports of a collision involving a white pickup-truck and and an electric mobility chair on Mayberry and Palm Avenue.
A truck driver reportedly did not see Hann as she headed east across Palm Avenue. The driver then attempted to turn left from Mayberry onto Palm, where she was struck.
Authorities say the truck was traveling at a speed of 10 to 15 mph at the time. In addition, the intersection has no crosswalks.
The impact consequently ejected Hann onto the roadway. Emergency personnel found her along with her oxygen tank around ten feet from the wheelchair.
Hann was responsive when she was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center for further treatment of serious injuries. However, she passed away the next day around 1:04 a.m., on March 3.
Furthermore, the involved pickup-truck driver stayed on scene and was cooperative with the investigation. The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary investigations.
Moreover, detectives later ruled out alcohol or drugs as a factor. The case currently remains under investigation to determine further details.
