Green Valley Woman Dies in Crash Involving Airport Shuttle in Phoenix on New Years Eve
PHOENIX, AZ (December 31, 2019) – A woman was killed after being involved in an airport shuttle crash Tuesday evening in Phoenix.
The crash happened around 10:00 p.m. on December 31 at the intersection of 32nd Street and Washington Street.
According to authorities, a Phoenix Sky Harbor airport shuttle was traveling north on 32nd Street approaching Washington Street when it was struck by an eastbound truck.
As a result, one of the two passengers of the shuttle suffered critical injuries and died at the hospital. She was later identified as 75-year-old Kathleen Watson from Green Valley.
The driver of the shuttle bus, a 39-year-old man, and the second passenger, a 74-year-old man, sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the truck, a 49-year-old man, remained at the scene. It appears that he failed to stop for the red light, authorities said.
At this time, impairment was a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
