Sonoma Bicycle Crash Injures Kathleen Iundice, Involves Kenneth Cavalli
Sonoma, CA] (June 16, 2021) – On Tuesday, 69-year-old Sonoma resident Kathleen Iundice was injured in Verano Avenue bicycle crash involving 71-year-old, also from Sonoma, Kenneth Cavalli.
The crash took place at 8:06 a.m east of Arnold Drive.
Officers said Iundice was cycling on Verano Avenue and crashed with an eastbound 2011 Nissan Altima, drievn by Cavalli.
Marc Renspurger of the Napa CHP office said it was Iundice who “caused the collision by riding directly into the path“ of the Nissan. That is because there is no bike path or marked bike lane in the area.
As a result of the crash, Iundice incurred major injuries.
Rescuers took her to Kaiser Hospital in Santa Rosa by Sonoma Valley Fire and Rescue Authority.
On the other hand, Cavalli was not injured in the accident.
Meanwhile, authorities said Iundice was wearing a helmet during the accident. Neither alcohol nor drugs appear to be a factor in the accident.
Always perform simple safety checks before you leave.
Start by inspecting your vehicle’s headlights and turn signals, be sure that both front and rear headlamps are working properly and visible enough a couple of yards away.
Also, take a reading of your tire pressure and make sure you maintain the recommended maximum. While at it, take a peek under your vehicle and ensure there are no loose objects or leaks.
