Multiple Injuries Reported in Catastrophic Multi-Vehicle Collision on Loop 20
Laredo, TX (February 13, 2024) Early Monday morning, 25-year-old Kassandra Lozano died after a disastrous traffic crash on Loop 20 near Lake Casa Blanca.
According to the Laredo Police Department, the frightening multi-vehicle collision happened at about 2:30 a.m. near the 5200 block of Loop 20.
Reports say that the catastrophic wreck started with a southbound pickup truck colliding with a pole and ending up in the southbound lanes.
Officials say that several good Samaritans attempted to help the sole occupant of the pickup. Unfortunately, as people tried to help the pickup driver, a Chevy driver failed to hit the break causing the vehicle to collide with the pickup truck and the people helping the pickup driver.
The impact of the collision caused the vehicle to catch fire, 2 people who were helping the pickup driver were thrown onto the side of the road and suffered serious injuries.
Authorities say that a total of 4 people were seriously hurt in the incident. Meanwhile, Lozano, a passenger on the Chevy was pronounced dead at the scene.
Medics transported 2 of the injured patients to a Laredo hospital and the other 2 were transported to a San Antonio hospital.
Laredo police are investigating the probable cause of the horrific crash and have not released further details about the incident.
