Karen Bumgarner Arrested after Suspected DUI Pedestrian Accident on Cohasset Road
CHICO, CA (November 10, 2019) – A 64-year-old man suffered injuries in a pedestrian accident on Cohasset Road, early Sunday evening.
According to the Chico Police Department, the incident happened at about 5:30 PM. The victim attempted to cross outside of a marked crosswalk. Then, two northbound vehicles struck him near Esplanade.
Emergency responders rushed the pedestrian to a local hospital with major injuries. As per reports, the victim is expected to survive.
Officers determined that one of the drivers, identified as 63-year-old Karen Bumgarner, was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. They later arrested Bumgarner and charged her with felony DUI causing injury.
Chico police continue to investigate the crash. They encourage witnesses to reach out as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information once it becomes available.
