ATV Crash in Red Bluff Kills 2 and Injures 2 Others
RED BLUFF CA (October 13, 2019) – Two women were killed Sunday afternoon when the all-terrain vehicle they were riding went out of control on a hill in Tehama County.
The two women were passengers, along with a 3-year-old Redding girl, on a 2014 Polaris Ranger. A 77-year-old William Quinn was driving the vehicle on Vestal Road around 4:00 p.m.
According to the CHP, the ATV was heading down a hill when the driver lost control of the vehicle and was ejected. The driverless vehicle continued down the hill, hit a tree and overturned multiple times.
As a result, the women sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities identified them as a 57-year-old Kerry Fitzgerald from Red Bluff and a 33-year-old Kaitlin Schori from Redding.
The child, who had been sitting on Schori’s lap, suffered minor injuries.
Quinn was airlifted to Mercy Medical Center in Redding for treatment of major injuries.
CHP officials said all four were not wearing safety restraints.
Further investigation of this crash is underway.
