Dodge Driver June Jones Killed in Highway 12 T-Bone Crash [Mauriceville, TX]

Mauriceville, TX (April 9, 2023) – On Thursday, a 47-year-old Dodge driver, June Jones, died, while Clifton Gunter, 67, of Orange, and Calvin McCllelan, 27, were injured in a Highway 12 t-bone crash.

DPS authorities responded to the scene at 5:15 p.m. about a mile east of Highway 62.

Investigating officers said a 1998 Ford pickup truck was eastbound on the freeway while a 2021 Dodge passenger car on the east shoulder made a U-turn in front of the pickup. 

The pickup truck struck the Dodge on its driver side.

Gunter, the pickup truck driver was ruashed to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont for treatment.

However, the Dodge driver, Jones, was declared dead at the scene by a Justice of the Peace. Her passenger, McCllelan, was taken to a hospital by personal vehicle.

The authorities are investigating this fatal incident.
