Pedestrian Accident Involving Big Rig Kills Julia Villalobos on State Route 516
Kent, WA (July 11, 2020)– Julia Villalobos died in a pedestrian accident involving a semi truck on State Route 516 Wednesday morning.
On July 8, a semi-truck hit and killed a female pedestrian identified as Julia Villalobos, said Washington State Patrol Trooper, Rick Johnson.
Officials then closed the milepost 150 just before 4 a.m. as reported by the Washington State Department of Transportation.
According to WSP, Villalobos was seen moving traffic barrels in a construction zone and hid between two barrels near SR 516.
Villalobos was lying down on the road when a semi-truck approached the area. The semi then struck Villalobos, and the truck immediately pulled over on the right shoulder of the road.
The woman was later pronounced deceased.
The WSDOT said that there was at least a five-mile backup due to the closure. Furthermore, multiple southbound lanes of I-5 were closed for more than four hours as a result.
The road reopened around 8:15 a.m.
