85-Year-Old Hawthorne Woman Identified as Passenger Killed in Crash near Marine Avenue
MANHATTAN BEACH, CA (October 29, 2018) – A woman was killed Monday afternoon following a traffic collision near Marine Avenue. The victim was later identified as 85-year-old Judith Jean Maloney, a resident of Hawthorne.
According to the Manhattan Beach Police Department, the incident took place at about 12:15 PM. A white Ford F-150 was turning right onto Cedar Avenue when it collided with a southbound burgundy Honda Accord.
The Honda driver and his wife, Maloney, both suffered injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, Maloney was pronounced dead shortly after arriving. Meanwhile, the pickup driver was also hospitalized with minor injuries. There is no update on either person’s current medical condition.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal crash and to identify possible contributing factors. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
