Juan Luna Carranza and Ramon Suastegui Arreola Dead in Shafter Car Accident on Orange Avenue
SHAFTER, CA (October 6, 2020) – On Monday, 27-year-olds Juan Luna Carranza and Ramon Suastegui Arreola died in a two-vehicle crash on Poplar Avenue in Shafter.
Moreover, according to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at 4:07 p.m.
The accident took place at the intersection of Poplar Avenue and Orange Avenue East, near Highway 43.
Later reports specified that an Infiniti sedan driven by Juan Luna Carranza headed southbound on Poplar Avenue towards Orange Street.
Meanwhile, a Chevy Impala driven by Yolanda Gutierrez headed westbound on Orange Street at a high speed.
Authorities said Ms. Gutierrez failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection.
As a result, Yolanda struck the Infiniti.
Consequently, the impact of the Shafter crash lead to the death of both Juan Luna Carranza and his passenger, Ramon Suastegui Arreola.
Additionally, a third rear passenger in the Infiniti sustained major injuries. Paramedics transported the victim to Kern Medical Center.
Yolanda Gutierrez was also taken to the hospital, but later died due to the injuries she sustained in the accident.
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office gave no further updates on the accident that left three dead.
