Juan Liu Dead in Chino Hills Pedestrian Crash on Eucalyptus Avenue

CHINO HILLS, CA (September 23, 2019) – A woman identified as Juan Liu, of China, died in a pedestrian crash on Saturday, September 21.

The collision happened around 8:45 p.m. According to reports, a vehicle struck 31-year-old Liu while she was in the crosswalk on Eucalyptus Avenue and Galloping Hills Road.

Two children, a 9-year-old boy, and an 8-year-old girl were also in the crosswalk. However, they were not struck, according to Chino Hills Police.

Chino Valley Fire District paramedics treated Liu who sustained major injuries. After that, they rushed her to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center in Pomona for further treatment. However, she later succumbed to her injuries.

According to officers, the two children and a woman were several feet behind the victim on an evening walk at the time. They allegedly witnessed the incident and are still traumatized.

In addition, the children are not related to Ms. Liu. However, they are her roommate’s children in a home they live in near the area.

Cpl. Seybert said investigators are trying to find out why Ms. Liu was in the United States since she and her family live in China. The officers are still in the process of talking to her family. In addition, her father is making the trip here, Cpl. Seybert added.

The vehicle that struck Liu was later identified as a 2012 Hyundai driven by a 24-year-old woman from Chino Hills. The unidentified driver has not yet been arrested. She remained at the crash site and cooperated with investigators.

Furthermore, neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have contributed in the collision. However, the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department’s Major Accident Investigation team is currently conducting the investigation.
