Juan Ledezma Injured in Fatal Big Rig Crash on Copus Road [Buttonwillow, CA]

Buttonwillow, CA (September 8, 2022) – On Wednesday, Juan Ledezma, 43, and Elvira Lopez, 55, both sustained injuries in a collision on Copus Road that killed a Lamont woman.

The fatal collision west of Interstate 5 happened at about 6:45 a.m. 

According to the investigating officers, a 2004 Ford driven by Elvira Lopez was trying to pass a semi-truck. Lopez entered the eastbound lane but did not have the proper clearance when she drove back to the westbound lane.

The Ford struck the big rig driven by Juan Ledezma as Lopez was trying to merge back into the westbound traffic. She lost control of her car and ran off the road before the vehicle flipped over.

Unfortunately, Lopez’s passenger died at the scene.

The medical team transported Elvira Lopez to a hospital with moderate injuries. 

Juan Ledezma, on the other hand, incurred minor injuries.

In the meantime, the authorities are investigating the cause of the collision west of Interstate 5.
