1 Person Dead in Tucson Pedestrian Accident near E Jacinto Street and N Stone Avenue

TUCSON, AZ (January 8, 2023) – Wednesday night, authorities arrested Juan Eduardo Basurto-Gaspar after a fatal hit-and-run crash near E Jacinto Street and N Stone Avenue.

The incident happened near East Jacinto Street and North Stone Avenue.

According to Public Information Officer Francisco Magos, a red 2006 Ford F-150 with headlights off struck a female pedestrian who was passing Stone Avenue in a marked crosswalk. Then, the Ford fled the scene without stopping to provide aid.

Moreover, responders rushed the 56-year-old female pedestrian to a Banner University Medical Center, where she died three days later.

Furthermore, officers managed to locate and arrest the hit-and-run driver near North Oracle and West Prince roads for aggravated DUI, aggravated, assault/serious physical injury charges.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the Tucson Police Department continued to investigate the crash.
