3 People Died in Tragic 2-Vehicle Collision on Highway 33
Fresno County, CA (May 31, 2023) On Thursday morning, a tragic crash on Highway 33 claimed the life of 53-year-old Juan Cortez and his passengers.
CHP says that the tragic 2-vehicle collision happened at about 5 a.m. on Highway 33. Reports say that a commercial truck collided with a car.
Officials say that a northbound big rig crashed with a westbound Toyota sedan Cortez was driving. Authorities say that the Toyota did not stop on a stop sign.
Reports say that the Toyota entered the intersection directly at the path of the semi-truck, the 23-year-old-driver of the big rig was not able to stop on time.
CHP says that Cortez and one of his passenger, 21-year-old Kevin Cruz Montesinos, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, another passenger on the Toyota 77-year-old Amancio Hildago, ultimately was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Authorities say that the driver stayed at the scene and was cooperating with officials.
CHP is investigating the tragic 2-vehicle collision.
