Jovany Cortez-Yanez Killed, 4 Injured in Two-Vehicle Crash on 20th Street and Roosevelt [Phoenix, AZ]

Police Investigate a Fatal Two-Vehicle Crash on 20th Street and Roosevelt in Phoenix 

Phoenix, AZ (August 20, 2021) – Thursday night, a 20-year-old Jovany Cortez-Yanez died and four others sustained injuries in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of 20th Street and Roosevelt.

Moreover, the fatal crash in Phoenix happened at around 10 p.m. on August 19.

Police said a white Dodge Challenger that was heading westbound on Roosevelt turned left and collided with a tan Chevy Silverado that was heading eastbound on 20th Street.

The front passenger in the Dodge Challenger, Cortez-Yanez died at the scene.

EMS then took three other people who were riding inside the Challenger and the driver of the Silverado to a hospital and are expected to survive.

Police confirmed neither driver showed signs of impairment.

Further investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing.
