Savannah S Sutton, Laci R Sica, Lauren H Gross Hospitalized after Accident on Highway 2
MEDICAL LAKE, WA (April 14, 2018) – A member of the Medical Lake High School track team was killed and three other teens were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Wood Road on Saturday Morning.
According to the Washington State Patrol, an SUV carrying four female members of the track team was traveling southbound on Wood around 6:45 AM, when it was broadsided by a Ford F-250 that was driving eastbound on the US Highway 2.
All four teenage girls were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. The Medical Lake students were on their way to catch a track team bus traveling to a competition in Cheney when the crash occurred.
Journey Tueller, 17, died at the scene. Lauren Gross, 17; Savannah Sutton, 14; and Laci Sica, 15 – were injured and transported to the Sacred Heart Medical Center. The extent of their injuries was immediately unknown but the Medical Lake HS community stated that recovery is expected to take long.
The driver of the Ford, 37-year-old Lloyd Jones, was also injured in the collision. He received medical treatment at the scene of the crash and was released. Authorities stated that Jones was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident. No additional information has been released at this time.
