Apple Valley, CA (November 7, 2023) – On Monday night, 12-year-old Journee Buchanan Williams died in a crash on Highway 18.

The crash happened at around 11:05 p.m., at the intersection of Highway 18 and Apple Valley Road.

Despite the valiant efforts of the emergency services, the victim tragically succumbed to her injuries.

A witness said police had been searching for the young girl shortly before the collision with the car.

“She had run away from a group home and the police had been looking for her, but 15 minutes later she was dead,” said a witness who wished to remain anonymous.

After stopping at a 7-Eleven store, the girl was trying to cross the street when it happened.

The vehicle that hit the girl left the scene, but returned a short time later, according to the witness.
