21-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies after Struck by Car at 37th Street East
LANCASTER, CA (June 6, 2018) – A motorcyclist was fatally injured Wednesday night after a driver made a U-turn into his path, crashing into him. The victim was identified as 21-year-old Josue Jimenez of Palmdale.
The fatal crash occurred around 8:39 PM on Avenue J at 37th Street East. The preliminary investigation revealed that the female driver of a Toyota Avalon was driving eastbound on Avenue J and stopped at the curb at 37th.
Jimenez was traveling eastbound on Avenue J in the number one lane approaching 37th Street East when the driver of the car made a U-turn from the curb line into his path. He attempted to avoid the collision and applied his brakes, but failed to avoid the Toyota Avalon, crashing into the driver’s side of the vehicle.
The motorcyclist suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was reported that neither speed nor impairment were involved in the incident. The female driver’s identity has not yet been released, and no arrest has been made as authorities continue their investigation at this time.
