6 People Hospitalized after Wrong-Way Crash on 32nd Street in Phoenix

Phoenix, AZ (May 14, 2023) – Sunday morning, 13-year-old Josiah Boteilho dead and six other family members sustained injuries in a two-car wrong-way crash on 32nd Street and Greenway Road.

The fatal wrong-way crash on 32nd Street happened just after 8 a.m. on May 14.

According to Phoenix police, a pickup truck was traveling southbound on 31st Street and failed to stop at a stop sign at Greenway Road. The driver was reportedly traveling in the wrong direction when the accident occurred.

The teenager, identified by a family friend as 13-year-old Josiah Boteilho, was taken to the hospital, where he died.

Four other children and two adults were also taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

The truck driver remained on the scene and reportedly showed signs of impairment.

Officials say the truck driver will be jailed for offenses including manslaughter and DUI.
