35-Year-Old University Place Man Killed in Pedestrian Accident near South 19th Street
TACOMA, WA (August 3, 2018) – A man was killed early Friday morning after he was struck by a vehicle near South 19th Street.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the collision happened at about 1:00 AM. A white 2003 Acura TL 4-Door sedan was heading east on State Route 16 at Orchard Street when it struck 35-year-old University Place resident, Joshua D McKay.
The victim sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by responding officers. Meanwhile, the driver of the Acura, identified as a 55-year-old Auburn man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
An investigation is ongoing to determine why McKay was in the middle of the highway and to identify possible contributing factors. There were no charges filed against anyone, and no additional details have been provided to the public at this time.
