Joshua Clayton and 3 Others Injured in Crash on Highway 154 [Santa Barbara, CA]

Tasneem Copeland, Genaro Dolores, Joshua Clayton, and Rosa Valdez Barrios Hurt in Collision near the Vista Point Over Santa Ynez Valley

SANTA BARBARA, CA (September 9, 2018) – At least four people were injured in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 154, late Sunday evening.

According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 10:20 PM near the Vista Point over Santa Ynez Valley.

Officials reported that the accident occurred when a westbound Lexus sedan, driven by 21-year-old Tasneem Copeland of San Marcos, veered to the right and struck a metal guardrail before becoming disabled in the roadway. It was then struck by an eastbound Dodge pickup, driven by 42-year-old Genaro Dolores of North Hollywood.

A passenger in the Lexus, 22-year-old Joshua Clayton of San Marcos, suffered major injuries and had to be extricated from the wreckage. 48-Year-Old Rosa Valdez Barrios of Panorama City, a passenger in the Dodge, sustained minor injuries. Valdez Barrios, Copeland, and Dolores were taken by ambulance to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment and evaluation. Details on their conditions were not available.

The westbound roadway was shut down for about an hour while emergency personnel attended to the injured and cleared the wreckage, with traffic alternating in the eastbound lane. No further details have been disclosed, as the authorities continue to investigate the incident.
