Joseph Vincent Summa Dies in Plane Crash on Alderfer Avenue [Odessa, TX]

Odessa, TX (August 21, 2024) – Joseph Vincent Summa of Bellaire and 49-year-old Joleen Cavaretta Weatherly of Orange were killed in a plane crash in Odessa.

The authorities received the plane crash report at 7 a.m. in the area of Yukon Road and Alderfer Avenue.

The accident report stated the Cessna plane was bound to Houston’s Ellington Field.

Moreover, witnesses added the plane was struggling to gain altitude when it took out some powerlines and ultimately crashed.

According to the investigators, the pilot attempted to avoid houses and the 1991 Cessna Citation 550 went down in an alleyway.

The plane crash impacted a mobile home and a woman who was transported to an area hospital due to smoke inhalation.

Several mobile homes and storage buildings were burned.

Based on FAA’s record, the plane was registered to Summa, the chief executive officer of two companies based in Pasadena: Techcorr USA and Summa Group. 

Meanwhile, the American Red Cross had set up a temporary shelter for those people whose homes were affected.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating this fiery plane crash.
