Thomas Andrew Magee Arrested after Fatal Pedestrian Crash in Lake County
LUCERNE, CA (September 10, 2019) – Authorities identified 40-year-old Joseph Symond Jackson of Lucerne as the man intentionally hit by a vehicle on Highway 20, early Tuesday morning.
According to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, the incident happened at about 1:30 AM. Witnesses claim that Jackson and 62-year-old Thomas Andrew Magee of Clearlake got into an argument near 7th Avenue. Jackson was on foot, while Magee remained behind the wheel of his white 2001 Chevrolet van.
As Jackson walked away from the van, Magee allegedly hit him on purpose and fled the scene.
Emergency responders rushed Jackson to Sutter Lakeside Hospital in Lakeport with critical injuries. Unfortunately, he died shortly after arriving.
At about 1:50 AM, a CHP officer spotted Magee’s van and pulled him over. Authorities charged him with murder. Magee is being held in the Lake County Jail on $1 million bail. He is due to appear for arraignment in Lake County Superior Court on Thursday, according to booking records.
