21-Year-Old Marine Identified as Driver Killed in Traffic Accident near 57 Freeway
ANAHEIM, CA (June 14, 2019) – Authorities identified 21-year-old Joseph Salcido of Vista as the driver killed in a traffic accident near 57 Freeway, early Friday morning.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened on 91 Freeway, at about 1:50 AM. A 2010 Chevrolet Camaro made an unsafe turning movement to the left and struck a metal guard rail.
The impact of the crash ejected Salcido from the vehicle. Then, he landed on a freeway, where at least one vehicle struck him and did not stop. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.

Meanwhile, emergency responders transported Salcido’s passengers to UCI Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries. All of them, identified as Salcido’s fellow Marines, have since been released, according to Salcido’s family.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal accident. Investigators encourage witnesses to call (714) 567-6000 as soon as possible. Additional information will be released once it becomes available.
