Injuries Reported in Merced County Auto Accident on 3rd Avenue and Edminister Road

 
MERCED COUNTY, CA (October 13, 2021) – Sunday afternoon, Joseph Lewis sustained injuries in a DUI crash on 3rd Avenue.
 
The authorities responded to the scene at around 1:45 p.m. Moreover, it happened on 3rd Avenue and Edminister Road, west of Stevinson.
 
CHP officer Eric Zuniga said that the incident began when a 2000 GMC Sierra drove south on Edminster Road. Then, an eastbound 2002 Dodge Caravan struck the GMC on 3rd Avenue. As a result, the GMC overturned.
 
According to reports, 31-year-old Mario Alberto Hernandez, the GMC driver didn’t yield at a stop sign. He also didn’t yield to traffic on 3rd Avenue.
 
As a result, responders airlifted 50-year-old Dodge driver, Joseph Lewis of Turlock to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto for treatment of major injuries.
 
Hernandez suffered no injuries in the crash. Thus, authorities arrested him on suspicion of felony driving under the influence. Then, authorities took him to Mercy Medical Center in Merced for medical clearance.
 
Eventually, the officers booked Mario Alberto Hernandez to Merced County Jail with a $200,000 bond.
 
The authorities continue to investigate the crash.
