Oakland Crash Injures Joseph Lax, Officers Arrest Daniel Won
Oakland, CA (August 13, 2021) – On Thursday, Joseph Lax suffered injuries, while police arrested Daniel Won, in a pedestrian accident on Aitkin Road.
Surveillance video showed a silver Chevrolet Bolt driven by Won was speeding towards a group of pedestrians.
Fortunately, the pedestrians managed to jump out of the vehicle’s way.
However, the driver turned around and sped back down the hill.
The vehicle struck Lax, one of the pedestrians.
Right away, responders took Lax to a hospital with a broken tailbone.
“I’m in a lot of pain. I’ll be honest I got prescribed some pain medication and it’s the only thing allowing me to sit down right now,” Lax said earlier this week. “I can’t sleep. Just emotionally, especially with her almost getting hit, it’s just bothering us.”
The authorities arrested Daniel Won with charges of attempted murder and assault.
Don’t speed, follow the speed limit and never use your phone; always be cautious of your surroundings.Keep Yourself Safe From Pedestrian Accidents
In today’s current state of affairs, more individuals are walking as a new way to escape home for a while.
As a result, pedestrian accidents have also spiked in popularity, so has the risk of pedestrian accidents.
Pedestrian accidents are incidents in which someone walking or crossing a road is injured by a vehicle striking them.
Surely, we can avoid pedestrian accidents.
A common cause of these unfortunate incidents includes drivers speeding. Motorists who speed do not have enough reaction time to stop or yield for pedestrians who have the right of way.
Especially now, with roadways emptier than ever across the world, drivers disobeying the speed limit is at an all-time high. Thus, pedestrian safety is at an all-time low.
Meanwhile, here are some things that we can do to avoid such accidents.
– Always avoid dangerous behaviors: walk on the sidewalk, stay sober, and make eye contact with drivers, don’t assume the driver can see you.
– Additionally, look before you step: cross streets at marked crosswalks/intersections, obey traffic signals, and watch for turning vehicles.
– Hire an experienced personal injury attorney from Sweet Lawyers if you or a loved one has been injured in a pedestrian accident.
