AMARILLO, TX (December 9, 2023) – Thursday night, Joseph Hunter Kiliewer died in a devastating two-vehicle crash on 605 Spur 228.

Reports said that the incident happened at around 10:00 p.m. at 605 Spur 228.

According to the Amarillo Police Department, a southbound red Toyota sedan lost control for still unknown reasons side skid into oncoming traffic and collided with a northbound gray Nissan sedan.

Moreover, responders pronounced the driver of the Toyota, 18-year-old Kiliewer, dead at the scene. Then, paramedics transported the occupants of the Nissan to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.

Due to limited information, the Amarillo Police Department’s Traffic Investigation Squad continued to investigate the crash.
