1 Dead and 1 Injured in Mendocino Car Crash
MENDOCINO, CA (January 30, 2020) – A 32-year-old Ukiah resident died and another sustained injuries in a car crash on Highway 20.
Joseph Denson succumbed to his injuries after he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and hit another vehicle, at the junction of Road A and the 20, a couple of miles east of U.S. Route 101. According to reports, Denson was the healthcare facilities director at Adventist Health and a former U.S. marine.
At about 7:45 a.m., Denson drove his 2014 Mercedes C250 east on Highway 20. However, for reasons still unknown, “the wheels of the Mercedes lost traction.” Meanwhile, 48-year-old Christian Hunt of Lakeport entered the westbound lanes of Highway 20 from Road A. Denson’s Mercedes then hit Hunt’s vehicle and Denson suffered fatal injuries. Responders then transported Christina Hunt to Ukiah Valley Medical Center with moderate injuries.
CHP also ruled out alcohol and drugs as a factor in the collision. The incident also blocked the roadway and authorities requested an air ambulance to the scene.
