Sonora Driver Injured after Three Vehicles Collide near Morris Road
SONORA, CA (September 14, 2018) – A man was airlifted Friday evening and another was hospitalized following a three-vehicle crash near Morris Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 8:00 PM on Tuolumne Road. A westbound 2005 Ford 500, driven by 22-year-old Savannah McNeil of Tuolumne, was stopped to prepare for a left turn into a private driveway. While yielding to eastbound traffic, her vehicle was rear-ended by a 2014 Toyota Tacoma, driven by 21-year-old Joseph Davis of Sonora.
The impact of the crash sent McNeil’s truck towards the path of an eastbound 2005 GMC Sierra driven by 50-year-old Louis Mendez. The GMC driver was unable to avoid the Ford and slammed into the left side of the vehicle.
Davis suffered moderate injuries and was airlifted to Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto. Meanwhile, a 27-year-old passenger inside the Ford was transported to Adventist Health Sonora with minor injuries. McNeil and Mendez did not require hospitalization.
Alcohol and drugs were ruled out as possible contributing factors in the collision, which remains under investigation at this time. It was also noted that all parties involved were secured in their seatbelts. No other information has been disclosed to the public.
