34-Year-Old Man Identified as Pedestrian Killed in Crash near County Road 103
YOLO COUNTY, CA (September 7, 2018) – A man was killed late Friday evening following a pedestrian crash near County Road 103. The victim was later identified as 34-year-old Joseph Cool. His place of residence was not immediatly released.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 11:00 PM on the southbound lanes of Interstate 5. The victim ran from the right shoulder of the highway toward the center median when he was struck by a vehicle.
Cool sustained fatal injuries, and he was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Meanwhile, the 33-year-old man driving the vehicle remained at the crash site to cooperate with investigators and was treated for minor injuries.
An investigation is ongoing to determine the cause of the fatal collision and to identify possible contributing factors. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact CHP Woodland office at (530) 662-4685. No other information has been released to the public at this time.
