27-Year-Old Pomona Man Fatally Hit after Exiting Vehicle near Fairplex Drive
POMONA, CA (November 6, 2018) – A man was killed early Tuesday morning following a multi-vehicle collision near Fairplex Drive. The victim was later identified as 27-year-old Joseph Christopher Texas, a resident of Pomona.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 4:20 AM. A Toyota Corolla, driven by the victim, was heading east on 10 Freeway when it rear-ended a UPS big rig and came to rest near the center divider.
Texas exited his vehicle and was standing on the roadway when an eastbound Toyota Prius slammed into the Corolla, causing it to strike him.
The victim suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, the Prius driver and his male passenger suffered moderate injuries. They were transported to an area hospital, where their current medical conditions remain unknown. The big rig driver did not require hospitalization.
