Female Passenger Injured in Fatal Petaluma Deliberate Crash on Highway 101 and Washington Street
PETALUMA, CA (October 3, 2020) – On Friday, Joseph Beaver died after crashing his motorcycle intentionally on Highway 101 and East Washington Street after fleeing a murder scene.
Moreover, the driver in the car opposite to Beaver was hospitalized with major injuries.
According to reports, the authorities received a report at around 1:21 a.m. The CHP confirmed that it happened in the southbound lanes of Highway 101, north of the East Washington overpass.
Officers added that a 34-year-old man riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle headed the opposite direction in the southbound lane.
Then, the rider crashed with a vehicle head-on. Due to the crash, the Mr. Beaver died. Meanwhile, the 24-year-old female driver of the other vehicle suffered major injuries.
A concerned citizen pulled out the female victim from her vehicle when the Honda Fit caught fire. Then, responders transported the woman to a local hospital, and is expected to survive.
Due to the fatal Petaluma accident, the CHP shut down the southbound lanes of Highway 101 until 5:45 a.m.
As of this time, the authorities believe that Beaver crashed his motorcycle head-on on purpose, as he was apparently fleeing a murder scene. Subsequently, they are now classifying the crash as a suicide.
The authorities continue to investigate the Highway 101 deliberate accident. Furthermore, they are urging anyone with information to call Petaluma Police Department Detective John Silva at 707-778-4532.
