Josef Binter of Murrieta Killed in Bicycle Accident on Whitewood Road [Murrieta, CA]

Murrieta, CA (April 26, 2023) – On Sunday, a 73-year-old man, Josef Binter, lost his life in a bicycle accident on Whitewood Road.

The fatal crash happened at about 7:50 p.m. north of Poinsettia Street.

Investigating officers said Binter was riding his bike northbound on Whitewood Road when he failed to see a Chevrolet SUV stopped at curbside as he traveled into the intersection.

A 37-year-old woman stopped her vehicle to check on her child in the rear seat. There is no information if her brake lights were illuminated, or if her vehicle’s hazard lights were on.

Murrieta Fire & Rescue personnel arrived at the location within a couple of minutes and provided life-saving measures on Binter, however, he succumbed to his crash injuries at the scene less than 10 minutes later.
