Jose Tovar Injured in Highway 29 Two-Vehicle Crash [St. Helena, CA]

St. Helena, CA (February 15, 2023) – On Tuesday, Jose Tovar, a 75-year-old Calistoga resident, and 53-year-old Ali Kakavand, a St. Helena man, sustained injuries following a Highway 29 two-vehicle crash.

The traffic collision took place at about 6:10 a.m. north of Ehlers Lane.

According to the investigating officers, a northbound 2020 Toyota C-HR driven by Ali Kakavand drifted onto the east shoulder. The vehicle struck a barrier and crossed the center line colliding head-on with a southbound 2006 Hyundai Sonata driven by Jose Tovar.

Immediately, the American Medical Response responded to the scene and rushed Jose Tovar to Providence Queen of the Valley Medical Center with major injuries. Similarly, the rescuers also transported Ali Kakavand with moderate injuries.

The authorities closed the highway for about an hour as they investigated the Ehlers lane traffic collision.
