Jose Sanchez Del Valle Arrested, Another Dies in Castella Collision
Castella, CA (March 26, 2024) – A 37-year-old man from Saucillo, Chihuahua, was killed, and 41-year-old Jose Sanchez Del Valle of Tijuana, Baja, was arrested in an Interstate 5 collision.
The fatal vehicle crash happened about 5:20 a.m. on March 22, south of Crag View Drive.
Officers said Sanchez Del Valle was driving a southbound Volkswagen Crafter van on the freeway.
CHP believes Del Valle made an unsafe turn to the right, and the vehicle left the roadway and crashed into multiple trees.
They say Del Valle, who was not wearing a seatbelt when the collision happened, sustained moderate injuries. However, he was still able to flee from the scene.
Moreover, troopers said all 17 passengers incurred injuries, and one of them died. Officers said nobody was wearing their seatbelts.
Officers arrested Sanchez Del Valle three hours later.
