1 Person Killed in San Diego Motorcycle Accident on Enrico Fermi Drive near Otay Mesa Road

SAN DIEGO, CA (October 2, 2024) – Monday morning, Jose Ruan Lopez died in a fatal motorcycle crash on Enrico Fermi Drive.

The incident happened at around 4:40 a.m. on northbound Enrico Fermi Drive, north of Otay Mesa Road.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle struck a yellow box truck that was disabled and parked along the east curb. Then, the force of the crash ejected the motorcyclist onto the roadway.

Moreover, responders pronounced the motorcyclist, identified as 20-year-old Lopez, dead at the scene.

Furthermore, the crash closed northbound Enrico Fermi Drive but has long since reopened.

At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
