Jose Nery Arrested for DUI After Fatal Crash on Highway 152 (Los Banos, CA)

1 Killed, Jose Nery Arrested after Alleged DUI Crash in Los Banos

 
LOS BANOS, CA (August 16, 2019) – The Los Banos police arrested a driver on suspicion of DUI after a fatal crash on Highway 152 Tuesday night.
 
The officers identified the suspect as 47-year-old Jose Alfonso Nery of El Centro.
 
The crash involved a big rig and a pickup truck and occurred in the area of Pacheco Boulevard and Ward Road.
 
Nery was driving a 2013 Tacoma, pulling out of a hotel parking lot onto Pacheco Boulevard. The Tacoma subsequently pulled in front of the big rig traveling on Pacheco Boulevard, and the two vehicles collided.
 
Nery’s male passenger died in the crash, while Nery complained of back pain.
 
The officers booked Nery into the Merced County Main Jail early Wednesday on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and felony DUI. He is being held on a $260,000 bond.
