Taft Men Derrick Taylor Peevy & Jose Martinez Junior Die in Accident on Highway 119
Dustin Acres, CA (June 11, 2021) – On Thursday, two Nissan Sentra drivers, Jose Martinez Jr. and Derrick Peevy, both of Taft, died in Highway 119 crash.
The crash took place minutes after 4 a.m. between Sunridge Avenue and Dustin Acres Road.
Officers at the scene said it’s too early to tell exactly what happened.
Traffic crews closed the highway for about four hours and traffic was rerouted onto Tank Farm Road. It was reopened to traffic about 8 a.m.
Meanwhile, officers are investigating the fatal crash.
The coroner later identified the decedents as Taft residents Derrick Taylor Peevy, 28, and Jose Martinez Jr., 38.
