66-Year-Old Jose Martinez Aguirre Killed in SUV Accident Near 35th Avenue [Phoenix, AZ]

Driver Aaron Johns Arrested in Phoenix Fatal Collision

Phoenix, AZ (August 24, 2023) – On Wednesday morning, 66-year-old Jose Martinez Aguirre sustained fatal injuries when an SUV driven by 38-year-old Aaron Johns slammed into his home near 35th Avenue.

The fatal crash took place around 1 a.m. in a neighborhood near Southern Avenue. 

Phoenix police said Jose Martinez Aguirre was sleeping downstairs when the SUV crashed into his home. The silver Kia slammed into the front wall, right into the home’s living space.

Unfortunately, he got trapped underneath the vehicle and had to be freed by firefighters. 

He was rushed to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The authorities said the Aaron Johns remained at the scene. Officers later arrested and booked him for manslaughter. 

Investigating officers suspect Johns was impaired when the collision happened.
