1 Dead and Raina Lopez Injured in Bakersfield Hit-and-Run Accident on Highway 99 and Palm Street

 
BAKERSFIELD, CA (September 29, 2022) – Tuesday night, Jose Manuel Sanchez Ontiveros died in a crash on Highway 99 and Palm Street.
 
The incident occurred at about 9:20 p.m. on Highway 99 and Palm Street.
 
According to reports, 43-year-old Jose Manuel Sanchez Ontiveros of Wasco drove a white GMC Sierra in the No. 3 lane. Then, he made an unsafe lane change into the No. 2 lane.
 
As a result, he crashed into an unknown model vehicle, said CHP.
 
Then, the GMC hit the center median wall, then overturned onto the northbound lanes of the 99.
 
As a result, Ontiveros sustained severe injuries and Raina Lopez was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.
 
Meanwhile, the driver of the unknown vehicle escaped north on the 99.
 
At this time, the authorities haven’t determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
