3 Officers Injured in San Antonio Auto Accident on 900 Patton Boulevard

SAN ANTONIO, TX (July 31, 2024) – Monday afternoon, authorities arrested Jose Luis Valdez after an alarming police chase crash on 900 Patton Boulevard.

The incident started at around 3:00 p.m. when an officer spotted a vehicle that is believed to be involved in a burglary assault in the 1500 block of East Carson.

Reports said that the suspect vehicle fled the scene before reinforcements arrived, with the SAPD EAGLE helicopter tracking the suspect vehicle from the sky. Then, multiple officers attempted to pull over the vehicle near the intersection of General McMullen and Castroville Road, but to no avail.

Authorities confirmed that the chase ended when the suspect vehicle drove to a dead end in the 900 block of Patton Boulevard, crashed into a fence, collided with multiple vehicles, including patrol vehicles, and was stopped when another patrol vehicle blocked its way.

Responders said that three officers sustained injuries in the crash, including an officer who was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries.

Officers arrested the driver of the suspect vehicle, identified as 29-year-old Valdez, for aggravated assault against a public servant, evading arrest with a vehicle, criminal mischief, and possession of a controlled substance.

At this time, the circumstances that led to the crash remained unclear. Once additional details become available, the public will be notified.
