FRESNO, CA (December 4, 2022) – Friday night, authorities arrested Jose Lopez Gracida following a fatal DUI crash on Highway 99 near Clovis Avenue.
 
The incident happened at around 11:00 p.m. on northbound Highway 99, just north of Clovis Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, a northbound Toyota Rav4 rear-ended a Mitsubishi Galant. Reports said that the Mitsubishi had stopped in the middle of the roadway for still unknown reasons. Then, the force of the crash pushed both vehicles off the roadway into the right-hand shoulder of the highway. Also, the Mitsubishi erupted into flames after the collision.
 
Moreover, authorities confirmed that the driver of the Mitsubishi, a 28-year-old woman from Selma, died in the incident. Then, paramedics transported the Toyota driver, 25-year-old Jose Lopez Gracida of Fresno, to a hospital.
 
Furthermore, officials said that Gracida will be arrested upon discharge from the hospital. Gracida’s currently facing charges of Vehicular Manslaughter while under the influence of alcohol.
 
Meanwhile, the fatal crash remained under investigation.
