18-Year-Old Jose Juan Mendoza Killed in T-Bone Crash on Sam Houston Boulevard [Rio Hondo, TX]

Rio Hondo, TX (September 1, 2024) – A Toyota driver, 18-year-old Jose Juan Mendoza, of Rio Hondo, was killed, and two others were injured in a T-bone crash on Sam Houston Boulevard Friday night.

It was about 8:30 p.m. when a man driving a black Dodge Caravan was making a left turn into a residence.

Suddenly, the silver Toyota Corolla driven by Jose Juan Mendoza T-boned the Dodge. Officers said the Toyota was traveling above the posted speed limit at that time.

The Dodge driver and passenger were transported to Valley Baptist Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Mendoza was also transported to the same hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. 

Meanwhile, investigators are still investigating this fatal collision, They said that an open container was found in the front cargo area of the Toyota.
