1 Dead and 1 Injured in Bakersfield Car Accident on Highway 43
BAKERSFIELD, CA (July 19, 2019) – A person died while another sustained injuries in a car accident on Highway 43 on July 17.
The head-on crash between a semi and a sedan occurred on on Highway 43 and Schuster Road. The CHP received reports of the collision at 9:29 p.m. The semi driver, 66-year-old Jose Jesus Pena of Armona carried tomatoes that spilled on the highway.
As a result of the crash, the sedan caught fire and shut down the highway in both directions. Meanwhile, the sedan driver died at the scene. Furthermore, Jose Jesus Pena sustained injuries.
According to some witnesses, the sedan driver traveled in a reckless manner.
