1 Killed, 9 Injured when MTA Bus Crashes into Five Vehicles in Willowbrook
WILLOWBROOK, CA (September 1, 2019) – A man was killed when a Metro bus crashed into several vehicles early Sunday morning in Willowbrook.
The crash happened just after 2:00 a.m. at Alameda and 131st streets.
Police say the bus was heading southbound on Alameda Street at 25 mph, when it veered and struck an SUV. The bus then slammed into other four parked cars in the vicinity before hitting a taco stand.
At the time of the crash, several pedestrians were standing on the sidewalk at the taco stand. One of them, 32-year-old Jose S. Hernandez of Lynwood, was struck by the Ford-E-150 as it was propelled onto the sidewalk.
Hernandez was rushed to St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, where he died from his injuries.
Meanwhile, three other pedestrians on the sidewalk suffered major to moderate injuries.
A passenger inside the Ford E-150 suffered major injuries, four passengers in the Honda Pilot suffered moderate to minor injuries and a passenger in the Metro bus sustained minor injuries.
At this time, authorities are still investigating.
